If you're in the market for a dual core processor then we'd strongly recommend a new Wolfdale based E8x00 series chip over the older Conroe based E6x00 series. Both deliver exceptional performance with plenty of headroom for overclocking but the Wolfdale chips will get you more speed for less power if you run them normally and if you're overclocking, they'll go further than ever before.

Great Processor, was able to overclock frontside bus to 1333 for a 25% increase on stock voltages and heatsink. Much higher over clocking is easily achieved with aftermarket cooling, Make sure you get the G0 stepping version the older steppings do not over clock as well.

Conroe/Core 2 Duo is the single most significant launch in the desktop area in years. It is a truly excellent product offering great value for money, cool running and low noise. Judging by the pre-purchase pricing, the E6600 is looking to be the choice chip right now and should be high on your wish list.
