Pros: The Toshiba name. XP Professional thrown in. Has everything one could need. Even a modem and serial port. Fast processor. Plenty of RAM for XP. The latest Intel integrated graphics.

Cons: I cannot see the point of the fingerprint reader, and the software for it was constantly clamoring for attention until uninstalled.

Other Thoughts: I cannot imagine a better package for the money. It is a pretty big machine, but I think that keeps the cost and the heat down.

Pros: Very nice package. Energy Star rating! This laptop stays very cool compared to the Lenovo and IBM laptops I have had in the past. Lots of ports, three USB, one USB/eSATA, an i.LINK, and clever Bridge Media Adapter supports SD, Memory Stick, MMC and xD-Picture Card media. I tried both my SD and SD-HC memory cards for my camera and both worked perfectly (unlike readers I have purchased or the one that came with my HP Photosmart printer). It also comes with a serial port which for me is a plus. Nice software packaged with the Toshiba. Not the junk that comes packaged with many PCs these days. I especially like the easy to use backup utility.

I bought this one because it came with downgrade DVD to XP Pro which I may have to use for some projects.

Cons: Not really a con, but you must use the Windows drag and drop function to copy files using the Bridge Media Adapter. I'm sure I can get used to that.

Other Thoughts: I'm very pleased with my first Toshiba laptop.
